BAFTA dresses
After rocking a succession of swinging outfits in hip Brit flick An Education, we had high hopes for Carey Mulligan's outfit for this year's outfit BAFTA ceremony. So we must admit we were a tad disappointed when she opted for this terribly safe black and white number. The frumpy length and heavy pattern is too ageing for this pretty rising star. Perhaps she was trying to channel the understated elegance of her idol Audrey Hepburn (whom Mulligan has frequently been likened to) but, if anyone's a contender for the Hepburn style accolade it would have to be that other Audrey, the darling Miss Tautou, Carey's gamine rival who wore this soft frothy and directional gown with characteristic confidence. Bravo Audrey!
