Strictly between me and you

I never miss an episode of Strictly.

No I don't stay in on Saturday nights glued to the telly in a reality TV vortex (that's what the iPlayer's for), but I'll be damned if I miss even just a minute of the sparkly sequin action.

You see, half the fun of Strictly is the flamboyant costumes, the floor sweeping ballroom gown, the ostrich feathered homages to Ginger Rodgers, the barely there tassled delights of the Latino dances, the gloriously camp chiffon and rhinestone shirts for the men...

Oh to be Strictly wardrobe mistress for the day!

Did you see the show broadcast from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom? That was a particular delight, with yards of sumptuous silks, taffeta and voile abound.

But it was Katya's number (above) that really caught my eye. A gorgeous 70s style disco glam affair with a veritable dollop of ice skating princess. In essence, a silver sequin leotard with a white chiffon cape and matching glittery waistband.

It ticks all my boxes at the moment (with party season just around the corner, am developing unhealthy obsession with capes and sequins), but better still, it has the same ethereal feel as the amazing floaty costume Supergirl wears at the start of the iconic 1984 film - remember the opening scenes when her unquenchable curiosity takes her away from her protected habitat in space? Here's a reminder...
